2nd day in Washington DC

Our second day in DC brought as much enjoyment as the first. So many things to learn and see.
Among other things, we went to the World War II Memorial for our dads, that really meant a lot to us.

These stars represent the men that didn't make it home, they are for the over 400,000 men that didn't make it back.

We met these new friends in Williamsburg, VA and then saw them again when we were visiting Washington DC!! Carole, Bill and Bill and their two "girls", they're from Texas

Looking out at the White House from the Washington Monument, it's 555 feet tall, you take a 70 second elevator ride to the top. You have to get tickets at 8 in the morning, it's free, but they only give out a certain amount per day. We didn't have tickets, but someone there gave us one and then the guard said, we could both go up, he laughed and said," It's a two for one day", we were so excited, didn't think we were going to be able to, nice surprise.

Still up high, looking at the Capital BuildingJust about to go up the elevator in the Washington Monument

  1. Hey Bill and Laurie did you go to Ford's theater to see where Lincoln got shot, and across the street to see where he died? He struggled with depression all his life, it was so bad after his son Willie died that he had him dug up twice so he could se him again. Have fun Tom and Julie
