In and around Glacier Natl Park - East entrance

Drove to Glacier National Park, camping 1 mile from one of the East entrances to the park. The high today was 45, it's 7:30 in the evening and it's now 41, wonder what the low will be? It's been raining most of the day and is supposed to rain most of the week. Our heater in the motorhome broke, so we bought a space heater and are snug as a bug. The temperature is 20-25 degrees colder than it normally is at this time of the year.
The park is now 100 years old. There are a lot of different animals in the park; mountain goats, bighorn sheep, deer, moose, black bear, grizzly bear, mountain lions and many more small mammals. Early on park philosophy on predators in parks was to eliminate them!!
We saw a moose today, but too far away to get a picture, she had her baby with her. Hopefully we'll see more tomorrow. We are surrounded by snow capped mountains, so pretty here.

There are 5 historic lodges in Glacier Natl Park, we went to Many Glacier Hotel, built in 1914 by the Great Northern Railway and sits on the shores of Swiftcurrent Lake and is at the base of Mt. Grinnell. Reminds us of the lodge at Crater Lake in Oregon. Beautiful lodge, huge great room, fire was roaring, which felt really good after being out in the wind and rain.
